Forge · Regional Economy Dossier

The Regional Economy Dossier — a TTRPG economy generator and fantasy trade system generator for tabletop campaigns.

A fantasy market builder and merchant guild generator for D&D and other tabletop RPGs: brief in a setting, a tension, and a season — the dossier returns chief exports, scarcity, factions in conflict, smugglers, market hooks, and rumors, staged as a single regional economy dossier the table can drop straight into the next session.

What the dossier delivers

  • Chief exportsThree to five staples the region rides — where each one originates in the place, and the foreign power, fleet, or guild that buys them abroad. Every export is a single line the table can chase.
  • ScarcityTwo to three dependencies the region cannot live without — and the price it pays in tribute, diplomacy, or political debt to keep them flowing. The shortage is the bribe, the embargo, or the held hostage.
  • Factions in conflictThe guilds, fleets, temples, and cabals who actually move the goods — who funds whom, what they feud over, and why the players will care the day the grain ships stop sailing.
  • SmugglersA black-market hook: the undersold good, the hidden route it travels along, the customs man who turns a blind eye. A whole side-quest sitting inside one paragraph.
  • Market hooksAn active dispute over a good or a route — an open fracture the party can tip, with both sides already named and the stakes already drawn in the customs ledger.
  • RumorsThe player-action consequence — one branch if the party intervenes, one if they do not, plus what the caravans and taverns are already saying about it. The session hook writes itself.

STRATUM I · ECONOMIC READ

A coastal hold whose wealth rides on a single prized resin — and whose silence about the inland quarries is no accident.holds the deeper ledger.

STRATUM II · EXPORTS

  • Amber resin — pressed from the cliff orchards of ; bought by the cartographers of the Pale Concord for their binding glues.
  • Salt-cured cod — dried on the long piers at ; carried south by the temple fleet at Sundown Tide.
  • Quarried slate — cut in the inland pits near ; sold under the false flag of the rival hold.

STRATUM III · ACTIVE DISPUTE

The Concord embargo on inland slate. Two years in, the temple fleet still sails — but a younger captain has begun at the harbor mouth. The quarrel is a tariff; the tariff is a feud; the feud is a war the hold has been quietly funding.
